Proselytizing compared to rape? Really?

war zone

There are bombs going off on more fronts than I can name.  The attacks are relentless and escalating.

AbortionNow the truth is coming out about the “safety” and “compassion” of abortion clinics.  And we thought the supposed “back-alley abortions” were bad?

Euthanasia—being legalized and accepted as “killing with compassion.”

Marriage—If the Supreme Court redefines marriage, marriage, completely severed from its original purpose, might never pull out of its death spiral.  Religious freedom and rights of conscience will be severely compromised.

Educational decline—we have all witnessed its decline, and with Common Core being rammed through at break-neck speed, it will continue to be an agenda driven program run by non-elected federal agencies.

And there’s so much more…

What’s most alarming, a majority of the people seem to be totally unaware and even apathetic to the bombardment.

The most recent bombshell: Court marshals for those who proselyte  in the military.

I quote Bethany Monk from CitizenLink

The Pentagon has released a statement, confirming its policy that would punish service members who share their religious beliefs.

That follows a private meeting last week between Mikey Weinstein, president of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF) and the Pentagon. Weinstein said military personnel who proselytize are guilty of sedition and “treason.” He said they should be punished to quell a “tidal wave of fundamentalists.”

“If this policy goes forward, Christians within the military who speak their faith could now be prosecuted as enemies of the states,” according to the Family Research Council. “This has potential to destroy military recruiting across the services as Americans realize that their faith will be suppressed by joining the military. Our brave troops deserve better. If chaplains and other personnel are censored from offering the full solace of the Gospel, there is not religious freedom in the military.”

As I have studied this and other relevant reporting it looks like the Department of Defense has had this particular regulation in place prior to Weinstein’s demands.

“Air Force Culture, Air Force Standards,” published on Aug. 7, 2012.

Section 2.11 requires “government neutrality regarding religion.”

“Leaders at all levels must balance constitutional protections for an individual’s free exercise of religion or other personal beliefs and the constitutional prohibition against governmental establishment of religion,” the regulation states.

Military leaders were admonished not to use their position to “promote their personal religious beliefs to their subordinates or to extend preferential treatment for any religion.”

Tony Perkins, President of the Family Research Council has said Weinstein’s hands are all over this work.  I wish I understood better whether MRFF could actually have had imput into the writing of the militaries’ regulations. Weinstein, an avid atheist is now demanding that the DOD start implementing it.

I quote Todd Starnes from Fox News

President Mikey Weinstein and others from his organization met privately with Pentagon officials on April 23. He said U.S. troops who proselytize are guilty of sedition and treason and should be punished – by the hundreds if necessary – to stave off what he called a “tidal wave of fundamentalists.”

“Someone needs to be punished for this,” Weinstein demanded to Fox News.  “Until the Air Force or Army or Navy or Marine Corps punishes a member of the military for unconstitutional religious proselytizing and oppression, we will never have the ability to stop this horrible, horrendous, dehumanizing behavior.” He compared the act of proselytizing to rape.

“It is a version of being spiritually raped and you are being spiritually raped by fundamentalist Christian religious predators,” he told Fox News.

He said there is a time and a place for those in uniform to share their faith – but he took issues with fundamentalism that he says is causing widespread problems in the military.

Perkins and members of the Family Research Council were stunned that the Pentagon would be taking counsel and advice from the Military Religious Freedom Foundation.

“Why would military leadership be meeting with one of the most rabid atheists in America to discuss religious freedom in the military,” Perkins said. “That’s like consulting with China on how to improve human rights.”

If Weinstein has his way, and apparently he has the attention of military leaders “it threatens to treat service members caught witnessing as enemies of the state.”  “Non-compliance,” the Pentagon suggests, “even from ordained chaplains could result in court-martialing on a case-by-case basis.”

Does this sound like something that should be happening in the United States of America…or Hitler’s Germany?

With all the social, moral, and religious bombardment taking place we need to choose our battles wisely…but for America’s sake let us choose to fight! Apathy is a killer.

The FRC has launched a petition drive urging Defense Sec. Chuck Hagel to protect the religious freedom of troops “and not to proceed with the purge of religion within the ranks called for by anti-Christian activists.”

The Power of Public Opinion

On February 2nd, I wrote my letter to Komen’s Foundation Headquarters praising their decision to stop funding Planned Parenthood.  But apparently for every letter voicing support, they received a much larger number condemning their decision.  Such is the power of the most vocal… or the most organized …or the most angry, despite the support of the silent masses. From what I hear, many of the bitter protests sent to the Komen Foundation expressed anger to the point of threatening bodily harm.

This  Komen/Planned Parenthood fiasco is not going away.  Nor should it.  When we can read about how fierce and manipulative the opposition to Komen’s decision was, it’s a lesson for all of us to study and understand.  Having been rewarded with a Komen capitulation like this only emboldens those using such draconian methods.  Men and women who understand the facts much better than I are calling them “Gangster Tactics.”

May I quote  five paragraphs of the above link?

IN the most recent Gallup poll on abortion, as many Americans described themselves as pro-life as called themselves pro-choice. A combined 58 percent of Americans stated that abortion should either be “illegal in all circumstances” or “legal in only a few circumstances.” …In the first Gallup poll to show a slight pro-life majority, conducted in May 2009, half of American women described themselves as pro-life.

But if you’ve followed the media frenzy surrounding the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation’s decision — which it backpedaled from, with an apology, after a wave of frankly brutal coverage — to discontinue about $700,000 in funding for Planned Parenthood, you would think all these millions of anti-abortion Americans simply do not exist.

But of course millions of Americans — including, yes, millions of American women — do oppose Planned Parenthood. They oppose the 300,000-plus abortions it performs every year (making it the largest abortion provider in the country), and they oppose its tireless opposition to even modest limits on abortion.

But there’s something quite a bit different, something creepy and not a little despicable, about the Planned Parenthood set’s besmirching Komen’s good name across a thousand platforms for having the audacity to stop giving them free money. And I don’t care why that decision was made, frankly.

Look at it this way…

Imagine I volunteered to run a cub scout troop, and for years, when the annual soapbox derby came near, I knew I could count on Joe’s Deli as good for a hundred dollar donation. If one year Old Man Joe decided he didn’t want to donate any more — because he didn’t like the design of our racer, or because he thought his hundred bucks was better spent on a little league team, or because he disapproved of the scouts’ stance on gays — what on earth would justify me going on public access TV to grill Old Man Joe on why he hates kids? What would justify me hacking the Joe’s Deli web site or maliciously editing Old Man Joe’s Wikipedia page? What would justify me goading a handful of my city councilman into standing up at the next town meeting and publicly calling on Old Man Joe to reinstate his donation?

Nothing. Nothing would justify that. Nothing at all.

We at United Families International condemn such tactics. We strongly encourage our readers to let your voices be heard. We must speak out to support organizations, legislators, and/or  private individuals  when “tipping point” decisions are being made.  Voices of reason and understanding aided by study and learning are recognized.   We need to recruit and organize our ranks.  This battle is not over.  Our letters may yet help them understand the significance of their decision.   Read the above links, and voice your support to the Komen Foundation!!!  Web link:  news@komen.org    address: 5005 LBJ Freeway, Suite 250, Dallas, TX, 75244,   phone: 1-877-465-6636

Let’s talk about SEXT

In Abstinence, Parenting, Planned Parenthood on January 5, 2012 at 6:46 pm

Danny Quinney

I hate to brag, but I’m probably the stupidest person I know.  Want an example of my dumbery?  Take women for instance.  To me, women are like cellos.  I don’t know anything about them either.  How did I learn so much about opposite sex?  I can trace my knowledge to when my father and I had “the talk.”

We were driving for a family fishing trip, for some reason he and I were alone, which was unusual because I have six siblings.  We had recently driven out of the range of the radio, when he asked me, “So, what do you want to talk about?”  I replied, “Whatever you want.” He asked, “Do you want to talk about sex?”  Being a teenage boy the idea my dad even knew what that was kind of grossed me out.  I remember replying, “Father, as engrossing and intriguing as that subject may be, being as how I am a teenage boy and have a natural inclination, and curiosity toward said subject, I fear this is something I would rather not broach with you on this occasion.   However, given time to mentally prepare, you could pontificate with me at a later date.”  That’s how I remember answering.  The truth is closer to, (rolling down the window) “Dad, slow down.  I see more cows.  MOOOOOOO!!!!”

I have since regretted not having the talk.  He did say if I had any questions he would be happy to answer them.  I’m in my forties, and have four kids, might be a little awkward to go to him now.

Recently Planned Parenthood (PP) in Denver, Colorado has launched an “ICYC” (In Case You’re Curious) texting program.  Taking “Sexting” to a new level. Anytime your child has a question about sex, they can text PP and someone on the other end of the phone will text back an answer.  Yes, now parents can sleep soundly at night knowing their son or daughter can have a one-on-one chat session with a Planned Parenthood operative, completely unchecked, or supervised, on a phone, probably paid for by them.  According to an article by Rita Diller, “Planned Parenthood stands to do more one-on-one damage to adolescents through its sex message texting service than through any form of communication it has yet bridged.”

(Quick question: If you get sexted by someone you don’t like. Does that mean you just got molexted, or violexted?)

What could go possibly go wrong with this program?  To put things in perspective, imagine if I invited a 14 year old girl over to my house to have a private chat about sex.  Not only would I be super creepy, I would also be worried about having my teeth (justifiably) kicked in by the girl’s father.  I don’t want to confuse you with technical jargon, but this is icky.

As a parent, or a teen, you don’t know who is at the other end of the phone.  Conversations can evolve, and you can’t know a person motives.  As painful as it is, parents, you need to have an open dialog about sex with your teenagers.  It’s embarrassing, it’s uncomfortable – they may know more about sex then you do, but you have make sure it isn’t a taboo subject.  They are going to find out, wouldn’t you rather it be from you?

The New York Times, had a article describing this and similar programs.  It said of one such program, “Now, through the Illinois Caucus for Adolescent Health, Mr. Chavez texts and blogs, with a focus on gay teenagers, about such subjects as what to do if a condom breaks, which clinics are gay-friendly and where to find low-cost lubricants — “things people need to know on the fly,” he said.”

The only thing I know about flies is they spread disease – it’s probably a good idea to keep yours zipped up.

Indiana Takes a Stand Against Planned Parenthood

In Abortion, Planned Parenthood on May 11, 2011 at 8:38 pm

By Grace Sailor

Governor Mitch Daniels of Indiana continues to hold the banner high in support of pro-family legislation as he signed a bill on Tuesday that tightens abortion rules, cuts $2 million dollars to Planned Parenthood which accounts for a large portion of Planned Parenthood’s federal budget, and is “the first state to prohibit the use of Medicaid at Planned Parenthood.”

Planned Parenthood is attacking the bill by using fear tactics by suggesting that the bill would deny women pre-cancer screenings, family planning, and treatment of sexually transmitted diseases. Governor Daniels refutes these claims and states that services will “remain readily available in every one of the 92 counties.”

Will the courageous actions of Governor Daniels pace the way for other states? I hope so!

Important follow up news:

Judge Doesn’t Block Indiana Law De-funding Planned Parenthood

A federal judge has declined a request by the Planned Parenthood abortion business to issue a temporary restraining order blocking a new state law Governor Mitch Daniels signed that yanks its taxpayer funding. The legislation would cut off anywhere from $2 million to $3 million the Planned Parenthood abortion business receives in federal funds via the Indiana government through Medicaid. It also bans abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy based on fetal pain.  Read more

UFI Poll results: “Have you ever gone to your child’s school and review their sex education program?”

In Abstinence, Parental Rights, Planned Parenthood, Polls, Sex Education on March 17, 2011 at 6:05 pm

Here is this week’s question:

“Have you ever gone to your child’s school and review their sex education program?”

Here’s what UFI readers said:

67 percent          Yes

33 percent          No

We wish everyone had been able to say “yes.”   This is a topic that United Families International has addressed in our communications for several weeks.  This is also one place that parents can make a dramatic difference in their child’s life and education – without tremendous amounts of time involved.

We encourage you to read the United Families International articles on sex education curriculums that are being promoted in our schools.   Get involved!

You Asked For It: How to stop harmful sex education

In Abstinence, Parental Rights, Planned Parenthood, Sex Education on March 17, 2011 at 3:38 pm

United Families International received a large response and many questions regarding our last email communication telling you about the new sex education curriculum entitled “It’s All One: Guidelines and Activities for a Unified Approach to Sexuality, Gender HIV, and Human Rights Education.” You can review that email alert here.

The number one question we received:   “What do I do to stop this from getting into my child’s school?” Today we devote this alert to answering that question.  The short answer is:  Become aware of what is being taught.

Here’s What You Can Do

1.     Contact your school district and ask to review the districts sex education curriculum.  It is often advisable to set up an actual appointment time.  You can contact your child’s specific school, but you will get a better overview of what’s out there by going to the district level.

2.    Ask to see the program that will be presented at all grade levels.  Ask where the curriculum came from.  What was the process for its development?  Who wrote it?  Does it come from the state education department or is it developed within district?   If possible, ask for a copy or to borrow it.

3.    Also ask to review all “tolerance and diversity” programs and curriculum as well.  They are often a companion to the implementation of sex education programs and can be equally dangerous and anti-family.

4.    Inquire about the district’s “opt in” and “opt out” policies.  Parents need to understand their options.

5.    Explain your desire to be on a parental review committee for sex education materials and curriculum.  Follow through to ensure that you are placed on the committee and then contacted at the appropriate time.

6.    Go home and read the curriculum – all of it – keeping in mind the worldview and anti-family perspective that that they could be promoting.  Go here to see some specific excerpts and page numbers pulled from the “It’s All One Curriculum.”

7.    Go here and read through your states laws and statutes regarding education and curriculum (click on “education” link).  Knowing what the law says is a great asset.

8.    Share the information with extended family and friends.  Warn your neighbor and help them to get involved.

9.    If offending material(s) is found, gather like-minded parents and go directly to your school board members and request a meeting.  Meet and explain the unacceptable nature of the curriculum being used.  Ask the Board Members what their plan of action is to remove it from the classroom.  Then be persistent.

10.    Be kind, respectful, and articulate.  Have your facts.  Trust yourself.  As a parent, you have a legal right to become involved in curriculum decisions, monitor what your child is taught, and to use your influence to have it removed or changed.

The most effective way to prevent this type of material from reaching your child is to be involved in the beginning – during the curriculum selection and decision-making process.  Get involved!   It sounds trite, but this is one area where one person really can make a difference. Never forget that public schools belong to you and to your community.

Additional things to be aware of:

1.     Do not trust the National Education Association (NEA) to be an ally in this effort or for them to provide assistance to you.  In fact, the NEA will probably be the first ones promoting this new curriculum in your school.  We direct you to a report on the position of the National Education Association.  United Families International representatives were in the room during the UN event in February where this occurred and can vouch for its accuracy.

2.     Please be aware that most national and state Parent Teacher Associations (PTA) are openly and actively supporting the homosexual agenda – this trickles down to the local groups.   (Please do not confuse the PTA with the locally formed and operated parent/teacher groups that do amazing and important work in our schools.)

3.    Some districts have or are attempting to implement what they refer to as “maturation programs.”  This curriculum is directed at students in the elementary grades and should be closely reviewed for its content.   Those who push radical “comprehensive” sex education are usually behind the writing and promotion of these programs as well.   Don’t let them sneak them into your schools.

FOLLOW the suggestions above;  FORWARD this email on; UNITE local and state efforts to secure that the values and morals which lift and build society.  Keep us informed as to what you are doing and let us help you.

Walt Disney is credited with saying that “Our greatest natural resource is the minds of our children.”  By being involved in the curriculum our children are being taught, we help preserve and protect that resource.  Parental rights in education are imperative.  Never be hesitant to promote and secure yours.

House Passes Amendment Banning Planned Parenthood Funding

In Abortion, Families, Planned Parenthood on February 19, 2011 at 4:21 pm

Congressman Mike Pence succinctly laid out the case for his amendment:   “..[T]his is not about Planned Parenthood’s right to be in the abortion business… This debate is about who [funds] it… Nobody is saying that Planned Parenthood can’t be the leading advocate of abortion on demand in America … but why do I have to pay for it?”    The continuing resolution – that included the Pence amendment banning any funding of Planned Parenthood was passed out of the U.S. House of Representatives on Friday.

This is the first step in stopping almost one-third of a billion dollars from going into Planned Parenthood coffers.  The continuing resolution still needs the approval of the Senate and then the signature of the President.  This resolution is also crucial to turning back the tide on irresponsible government spending.

Planned Parenthood advocates continue to claim that Planned Parenthood deserves the taxpayer funds because they do more than just abortions.  Yet thousands of non-profits around the world do crucial work to aid women, children, and the vulnerable – without a dime of aid from government.  Planned Parenthood can do the same.  It is also interesting that just this year, Planned Parenthood leadership has required that all affiliates must do abortions or drop the Planned Parenthood name.

Thursday night, the almost three-hour debate on the Pence amendment was full of statements revealing the shallowness of the pro-abortion position.  Rep. Gwen Moore (D-Wis) made the stunning statement that abortion is better option for babies resulting from an unplanned pregnancies than a life of “eating Ramen noodles” or “mayonnaise sandwiches.”  Others tried to make the case that there would be no healthcare for some women or help for victims of sexual assault if Planned Parenthood was defunded.  I don’t think Planned Parenthood is necessary strapped for cash since they regularly bring in a profit of over $89 million a year.  I think they’ve got a dime or two to spare.

Thank you to all who contacted their representatives to encourage their support of these measures.  Please take a minute to thank them as well!  Then get ready to let your voice be heard as this measure moves to the Senate.

Watch Rep. Mike Pence as he tells it like it is:

UFI Reader Poll: Is Planned Parenthood’s work worthy of continued funding?

In Abortion, Planned Parenthood, Polls on February 10, 2011 at 11:43 pm

Here’s last week’s UFI Family Poll question and the results:

Is Planned Parenthood’s effort to provide contraception, healthcare, and education to underprivileged women and children enough to warrant the continuation of taxpayer funding?

2 percent                             Yes

2 percent                             Undecided

96 percent                          No

As the details (and the videos) continued to emerge on the Planned Parenthood “sting” put together by Live Action (a student run pro-life group), the calls for the defunding of Planned Parenthood grow louder.

The individuals that claim Planned Parenthood makes a major contribution to the health of women – in spite of the fact that they perform abortions – are having a much more difficult time making their case.  There are multitudes of ways to help women with healthcare and contraception that do not involve being a player in the multi-million dollar abortion industry.

Planned Parenthood is a profit-making business and as such is undeserving of public funds.  As for the criminal behavior of the Planned Parenthood clinics, let’s hope they are held accountable for their illegal actions by all levels of law enforcement.

Another Planned Parenthood Outrage: Special Webcast Tonight

In Abortion, Family Planning, Planned Parenthood on February 3, 2011 at 3:29 pm

Aiding underage sex-trafficking rings, covering up sex abuse of children, coaching potential clients/patients to lie and commit fraud…sounds like a crime syndicate doesn’t.  Nope, we’re talking about Planned Parenthood clinics.  In the latest undercover sting operation conducted by Live Action, a student-led pro-life group head by Lila Rose, Planned Parenthood is exposed once again.  You may remember some of Live Action’s past hidden camera videos where they show Planned Parenthood dancing around parental consent laws, protecting child abusers and even accepting  donations that were specifically directed at abortions for African-Americans – Margaret Sanger would be proud.

Two videos in this next round from Live Action, have been released; one filmed at a Planned Parenthood clinic in New Jersey and the other in Richmond, Virginia.  Planned Parenthood leaders have gone into damage control mode; firing one employee who was involved and expressing grave concern that their employees were operating outside the policies of Planned Parenthood.  But Lila Rose is not buying it:

“This proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that Planned Parenthood intentionally breaks state and federal laws and covers up the abuse of the young girls it claims to serve.  Time and time again, Planned Parenthood has sent young girls back into the arms of their abusers. They don’t deserve a dime of the hundreds of millions they receive in federal funding from taxpayers. Congress must cease funding and the Department of Justice should investigate this corrupt organization immediately.”

You can hear Lila Rose tonight in a webcast as she explains some of the details of the sting and what is occurring as Planned Parenthood, law enforcement, and the media react.  Family Research Council is sponsoring the webcast and it will include U.S. Rep. Mike Pence (R-Ind.) and prominent leaders in the pro-life movement.  It’s tonight, Thursday, February 3, at  8:30 PM Eastern Time.   They’ve entitled it Planned Parenthood Exposed. It’s free and you can register here.

Below, you can also watch the actual video footage filmed at the Planned Parenthood Clinic in January in New Jersey.

Merry Christmas from Planned Parenthood

In Abortion, motherhood, Planned Parenthood on December 13, 2010 at 12:54 pm

“Choice on Earth” wallpaper adorns the home page of Planned Parenthood’s website.  Some Planned Parenthood (PP) clinics still offer the “Choice on Earth” holiday cards as well as gift certificates good for, among other things, abortion services.   That must be somewhere on an “ultimate stocking stuffer” list.

Cecile Richards, PP President, has sent out her annual “Christmas” email to her supporters bragging about Planned Parenthood’s role in the passage of the largest increase in taxpayer-funded abortion since Roe v. Wade (1973) and urging her readers to donate so even more can be done.  The most prolific abortion provider in the world really knows how to enhance and celebrate the Christmas season!

At a time of year when the world celebrates the birth of a child, Planned Parenthood is celebrating the ending of the lives of 1.37 million unborn children in the U.S.  (42 million worldwide) and continues to make a mockery of the scriptural passage that rejoices in the birth of a baby boy some 2000 years ago.

Cecile Richards defends her organization’s activities and insists that the bulk of the services provided by Planned Parenthood are for basic healthcare and “family planning.”  Yet the numbers from International Planned Parenthood Federation show that annually Planned Parenthood performs:

363,089                Surgical abortions

90,035               Medical abortions (pills)

453,124   Total abortions

Planned Parenthood  charges, on average, $450  for  a surgical abortion.  That means that in one year, International Planned Parenthood brought in $163,390,050 on surgical abortions alone.   Keep in mind that Planned Parenthood receives millions of tax-payer dollars each year in the form of grants and subsidies…that’ll cover a lot of basic overhead for Planned Parenthood clinics!

Returning to the “Choice on earth” and Planned Parenthood’s mockery of the “Peace on Earth” Christmas message, we’ll close with this:

The greatest destroyer of peace is abortion because if a mother can kill her own child, what is left for me to kill you and you to kill me? There is nothing between.  –Mother Teresa
