Homosexuality is the story of our mothers and fathers? Don’t think so.

In AIDS, DOMA, Don't Ask, Don't Tell, Homosexuality, Parenting, Same-Sex Marriage on June 1, 2011 at 4:29 pm

It’s June and it’s also “Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Pride” month in the U.S.  Pres. Obama made it official with this proclamation.  We thought the proclamation’s opening sentence was particularly ironic:

The story of America’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) community is the story of our fathers and sons, our mothers and daughters, and our friends and neighbors who continue the task of making our country a more perfect Union.”

There are not mothers and fathers without heterosexual behavior – male and female coming together.  Be it in the traditional way or even in a Petri dish.   It seems that Pres. Obama’s speech writers like to participate in the fiction of homosexuals bearing children – but we’ll give them credit; it’s a pretty sentence.  Ironic, too, that they used the term “perfect union.”

Pres. Obama goes on to list the ways that he has pandered and catered to homosexual advocates.  He lists in detail his promotion of the gay advocate’s wish list – all of which are to the detriment of religious freedom, traditional marriage and family values.  Read the proclamation here.

June is such a great month; school’s out, the beginning of summer; lots of family time, Father’s Day…

It’s a tragedy for a nation’s attention to instead be intentionally focused towards promoting a behavior that -when followed to its most obvious conclusion – assures that fatherhood (or motherhood) will never come to pass.

Myth Buster Monday: Ten percent of the population is gay.

In Don't Ask, Don't Tell, Homosexuality, Same-Sex Marriage on April 18, 2011 at 7:27 am

How many homosexual men and women are there in the U.S.?  For decades, the public has been led to believe that ten percent of the population view themselves as homosexual. The ten percent number comes from an analysis of interviews conducted from 1938 to 1948 under the supervision of Alfred Kinsey where 10 percent of men interviewed – male prison inmates – claimed to be homosexual.  United Families International has regularly pointed to studies that estimate that 1.8% to 3% of the male population consider themselves to be homosexual with the rate for females at 1.5%.

Fortunately, an unexpected source has given an answer to the question – an answer that hopefully the media and other gay advocates will accept.  Gary Gates, a demographer at the highly regarded gay advocacy think tank Williams Institute on Sexual Orientation Law and Public Policy at UCLA, tells us that 1.7 percent of the 18-and-over population identify as being gay or lesbian.  Gates also a state that an additional 1.8 percent identifies as being bisexual.  That is approximately 8 million adults in total – a far cry from 10 percent figure claimed by Kinnsey which would amount to 33 million adults today.

The Associated Press notes that news is going to be upsetting to many in the homosexual community who used the 1-in-10 number to feel better about themselves.  Brad Sears, Executive Director of the William’s Institute, stated “There are a lot of great folks for whom that number may have personally been important in their coming-out process.  It may be hard to let go.”

Gay advocates say that in spite of the substantially lower number, they will continue to lobby and fight for “gay rights” – citing “quality” vs. “quantity.”  But an acknowledgment of the lower numbers of homosexuals ought to negatively impact not only their political clout, but should send a message to retailers who cater to and support gay causes – in retail, large numbers of prospective customers do matter.

The Williams Institute statistic indicating that over one-half of the homosexual community is bisexual (1.8 percent) also sheds new light on the claim that homosexual behavior is innate and unchangeable.  The very presence of “bisexuals” tells us that individuals can and do change their “orientation” – so much for innate and unchangeable.

Aggressive Homosexual Advocacy Impacts Military Families

In Don't Ask, Don't Tell, Homosexuality on October 20, 2010 at 8:54 pm

It’s been an interesting few weeks and months.  There are many things that have occurred in the social policy world that should give all of us cause for great optimism.  Such things as the state of Nebraska’s new “Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act,” Brazil’s President pledging not to decriminalize abortion or personally support anything that would negatively impact families or religious freedoms, the successful lawsuit by the San Diego firefighters who were forced to work at a gay parade”"all of these show the power of citizens who get involved and stand strong for families and traditional values.

Unfortunately we also live in a time when same-sex advocates and the courts have turned up the heat on the U.S. military, on churches, and on businesses.  We’ve seen efforts to malign Target Corp., we’ve seen the Human Rights Campaign up the ante on forcing companies to pay for transgendered surgery insurance, and we’ve seen various churches and their leadership openly attacked.

It’s disheartening and rather shocking how aggressive and abusive the proponents of the homosexual agenda have grown in the past few years.  As they call for “equality,” “acceptance,” and “tolerance” they simultaneously attack free speech, freedom of religion, and most aggressively, they attack traditional families.  While this hypocrisy is ever apparent to the layperson, the media has seemed to overlook it, touting the moral high ground of the homosexual agenda and similarly fostering negativity toward traditional values.

But sadly, the media isn’t the only one politicizing things that should remain unbiased–so is the United States Congress.  While most of what Congress does is by definition political, there are a few important things that should remain bi-partisan, one of those important things being support for troops in combat overseas.  But, once again the aggressive and selfish nature of the homosexual agenda is prevailing over the safety of United States troops as the politicos in Washington, D.C. and The United States court system has attempted to overturn the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” Policy (DADT)”"even attaching an amendment to repeal DADT to crucial appropriations legislation which would extend money for equipment and support programs to the American troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.   This is a political stunt that should not be tolerated nor should we tolerate any policy shifts that have the potential to inflict harm or damage the overall morale of military personnel.

A personal account on the impact of the repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”

A United Families International supporter shares some personal insights on the impact to military families if DADT is repealed:

As I live alone in Germany with my husband in Iraq, halfway through a 12-month deployment, I’m amazed at the cunning and manipulative ways that I see this push for so-called human rights working from even more angles to tear apart families.  To the proponents of the homosexual agenda, same-sex marriage is a human right, apparently a more important human right than all the hundreds of thousands of soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan’s human right to life.

One of the biggest issues I have found among soldiers has to do with the government dictating their moral beliefs.  Especially for officers and higher ranking Non Commissioned Officers  (NCOs) who may have moral or religious objections to the homosexual lifestyle, a repeal of DADT would not just mean that homosexuals could serve openly in the military but that these officers and NCOs would have to defend the homosexual soldiers’ lifestyles.  With a military that is overwhelming conservative and supportive of traditional values, this has caused the most concern.   These families do not want a standard to be set in the military community that teaches their children to accept the homosexual lifestyle as a normal option and a healthy marriage and family.  Because the military community can be so insular – they go to Department of Defense Dependent Schools (DODDS) and military hospitals, even the grocery store is run by the military – a policy shift such as the acceptance and condoning of the homosexual lifestyle would then be endorsed not only in the soldiers’ unit but in their families, next door to them, in their schools, in all aspects of their lives.

The Department of Defense has been conducting large scale surveys of both soldiers and spouses of active duty military personnel to gauge their opinions about the issue of repealing DADT but Congress has been ambivalent toward waiting for the response.  The surveys were only just collected over a month ago and running the data on a survey of hundreds of thousands takes more than a couple weeks.  But clearly, Congress and the White House couldn’t care less about how this would actually impact a military that is already spread thin and worn out from this ten year war.  They’ve shown where their priorities lay and it’s with the political melee of the liberal left’s agenda and not with supporting the troops.  Soldiers and their families also understand this and any goodwill that the repeal could have among some has been tarnished by the way in which they’ve attempted to go about enforcing it. Attempting to attach the DADT repeal to the funding for our soldiers was the best way to demonstrate how little they value the sacrifices that these soldiers and their families are making every day.

This woman concludes:

“I am continually surprised by how the homosexual agenda’s mantra of equality has left others ‘hung out to dry’ as they place themselves and their wants above other’s feelings and needs.”

Conclusion

UFI recognizes the important work of military families around the world and the sacrifices they are making.  All citizens should be troubled when any group’s agenda is allowed to overshadow the security and the needs of soldiers and their families.

In a world where common sense is backed up with a growing body of scientific research all disproving the claims of the homosexual agenda, it seems the focused approach of same-sex advocates is to personally attack and harass everyone who doesn’t agree with them.  It’s a world where the values of parenting, marriage between a man and a woman, and the freedoms of religion, speech, and so many other freedoms can only be countered by being called hate speech.  With the growing ferocity of their claims and attacks, UFI and the promoters and protectors of the family must not shirk away in silence.  It is the time for us to be more outspoken.  We cannot allow the tactics of the homosexual agenda’s supporters to intimidate us.  If we sit silently, their campaign will be successful.

UFI stands firmly in support and defense of the family and the traditional values which create stronger and healthier communities, stronger and healthier governments, and a stronger and healthier world.  Please join us in our fight for the family.  Pledge your support today.

Lady Gaga Fails in Her Aggressive Efforts to Overturn “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell”

In Don't Ask, Don't Tell, Homosexuality, Senate on September 21, 2010 at 10:05 pm

Looks like Lady Gaga’s appeal to her fans to contact senators to encourage them to overturn the military’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy has been unsuccessful.  Mobilizing her 6.3 million twitter followers and posting a heavily-scripted plea on youtube  seemed to have little effect .  Today (Tuesday, Sept 21) the Senate voted against cloture on the Defense Authorization Bill.

A bipartisan vote in the senate has now delayed this bill which would have allowed abortions to be performed on military bases (on the tax payer’s dime, of course) and allowed homosexuals to openly serve in the military.  It also included a controversial amendment that would have granted a form of amnesty to millions of illegal aliens who arrived in the U.S. prior to their 16th birthday.

Senator Harry Reid (D-Nevada), with the encouragement of same-sex advocacy groups and pop culture oddities like Lady Gage, concocted the scheme to use the Defense Authorization Bill to slide in a little—no a lot!—of social engineering.  Reid was attempting to hold the military and the country hostage by adding his favorite leftist policies to a bill that is meant to provide funding to U.S. troops.  Many have referred to Reid’s political maneuvering as “despicable.”

United Families International thanks Senators McCain, McConnell, and Inhofe for their efforts in building  and maintaining a coalition to successfully stop this legislation.  Political analysts give mixed opinions as to when this bill may resurface.  We will alert you when it comes forward again.

As for now, Harry Reid and Lady Gaga are back to the drawing board.

78% Say Leave The “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” (DADT) Policy In Place

In Don't Ask, Don't Tell, Free Speech, Religious Freedom on June 16, 2010 at 12:12 pm

We polled you and asked “What should be done with the “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” policy?”  and here is what you had to say

78% of you said – “Leave current policy in place”
8% of you said – “Leave it in place until the military has had time to evaluate”
14% of you said – “Repeal it”

Homosexuality and the Military

Many conservative commentators view the push to repeal the U.S. military policy “Don’t ask, Don’t Tell” as a significant step toward full validation and acceptance of homosexual behavior in the overall society.

“The three most significant institutional barriers to the full normalization of homosexuality in the society are the military, laws governing marriage, and the churches. For this reason, all three of these institutional forces have been directly targeted by those who would push for the full acceptance of homosexuality. A focus on these institutions is essential if homosexuality is to be recognized on an equal moral and cultural footing with heterosexuality. There is no surprise here.” –Albert Mohler

John Berry, White House director of the Office of Personnel Management and the highest ranking gay official in the Obama administration, seems to agree.   While being interviewed by a gay website, Berry stated that the Obama administration goals are:  passage of  [1]“hate crimes legislation, [2] ENDA [Employment Non-Discrimination Act, [3] Repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”, and [4] DOMA [Federal Defense of Marriage Act], in that order.”  Berry added, “we will do it before the sun sets on this administration.”

Indeed, there is not a surprise in how gay advocates are going about their work.  Understand that their efforts are well underway.  But do we fully understand the significance of such a change to the military?

“At present, the armed forces operate under policies that identify open homosexuality as incompatible with military service. With a single stroke of legislation, that policy will not only be repealed, it will be reversed. Homosexuality will be transformed from something that is officially ‘incompatible with military service,’ to a reality that must be protected by rules and regulations about discrimination, advancement, promotion, and military culture.”Albert Mohler

Feminist Claim Legalizing Prostitution Will Eliminate Sex Trafficking

In Courts, Democracy, Don't Ask, Don't Tell, Prostitution, Values, Women's Rights on January 20, 2010 at 10:19 am

US President Barack Obama declared January 2010 National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month and asked everyone to recommit themselves to ending the modern practice of slavery in the world.  Human trafficking is an international problem where men, women, and children are victimized through force, fear, and threats.  Women and children are particularly vulnerable to this black market industry because of the demand for prostitutes around the world.  Most women who enter the industry do so before the age of 16 and are submitted to violence, sexual and physical abuse, and rape.

Sex trafficking is an epidemic which does not limit itself to one place or one group of people.  Too often the crime of sex trafficking is ignored because it is termed prostitution. The majority of sex trafficked women end up in unfamiliar countries, stripped of every right to control what happens to their own bodies and given no power to negotiate for their own safety. Reclassifying the act as prostitution by giving a woman a little money only serves to mislead individuals from what is actually happening – sexual abuse, rape, violence, and battery. Study after study shows that an overwhelming majority of women who are currently working as prostitutes did not enter the industry willingly and want out of the industry immediately.

The Opposition’s Agenda

Many feminist groups and leftist governments from around the world would try to convince us that the only way to stop the sex trafficking of women and young girls is to legalize and regulate prostitution and provide sex workers with rights.  It is argued that women have the right to decide what they do with their bodies and if they choose to participate in prostitution then that should be within their rights.

What these groups aren’t saying is that the women who participate in prostitution are not choosing to do so but are resorting to the only options left available to them.  It is a modern form of slavery; for the most part, these women are not free to make their own choices.  Women sex workers disproportionately come into the industry from poverty and from marginalized ethnicities and races.  Far from the picture of women’s rights that is painted by nongovernmental organizations and leftist countries is the reality of women being turned into commodities to be bought, sold, and victimized for someone else’s profit.  Unlike what these groups may claim, prostitution systematically discriminates against women, children, and those from the poorest and most disenfranchised ethnic and racial groups.

Many developing countries support the legalization of prostitution because of the economic benefits they feel it will bring them.  If prostitution were legalized it would allow governments to count prostitutes as among their workforce which would lower their unemployment rates and would allow governments to tax the industry and its workers which would increase national revenue.  But while these governments try to emphasize the perceived benefits of such a decision, they are ignoring the facts.

An International Epidemic

Countries in Eastern Europe and Southeast Asia have become notorious for their sex industries and draw “tourists” to the country for the expressed purpose of taking part in the violent exploitation of women and children.  Countries such as Thailand and the Philippines are plagued with expatriate pedophiles from the Western world whose sole draw to these countries is the easy access to young boys and girls to sexually exploit.  In China an atmosphere has developed, driven by the demand for young Asian women by foreign business men, which has created a generation of Chinese women who feel it is their patriotic duty to contribute to the country’s GDP by selling their bodies.  In the United States the State Department estimates that anywhere from 50,000 to 100,000 young girls are trafficked each year in this country.

Legalizing prostitution does not eliminate the negative impacts of the industry.  Sex trafficking is necessary to keep prostitution functioning and profitable for suppliers.  In the developed world where some “progressive” governments have legalized prostitution, sex trafficking has done nothing except to continue growing at an even faster rate.  In the Netherlands where prostitution is legal, statistics show that over 80 percent of sex workers are trafficked in from other countries.

The Work of UFI

Through United Families International’s two-pronged approach of education and advocacy, we have been working to combat global sex trafficking through our presence at the United Nations.  UFI battles for the rights of all by keeping language out of international resolutions which would recognize prostitution as a right and seek to legalize it.  Not only does UFI work to keep such language from international law but we work to include protections which explicitly forbid the practice of sex trafficking and prostitution.  We fight to protect families against the threats of an industry which perpetrates violence against women and children and increases the risks of child sexual abuse by fostering the adult sex industry in our own neighborhoods.

By proliferating accurate information about the ills of prostitution and sex trafficking, we seek to continue building a global community which values protecting individuals from the perils and pernicious damage of this industry.  Education is the fastest and most effective way to bring about a broad cultural shift in perspective which values the preservation and protection of traditional families.  Through our work at the local, national, and international levels we are combating the leftist, feminist agenda which attempts to legalize the exploitation of the world’s most vulnerable.  The morals of society must not be undermined by misguided and short-sighted government policy or relaxed cultural expectations.

UFI’s Unique Role

United Families International works to unite organizations in their efforts to combat human trafficking and provides them with the research, science, and support necessary to defend families from this onslaught against the vulnerable among us.  Through UFI’s role as the primary non-sectarian, social science-based organization with an international presence, we are working to build an international and united front for the family across the world.  Our new President, Michael Duff, is advancing this effort with a new vision for UFI that will allow us to better  influence and guide policies affecting sex trafficking and exploitation policies around the world.
